A LONG AWAITED UPDATE!!

and its about NATIONAL DAY!!

Well, This national day celebration is one of the best events that we have had so far. This is definitely the best year for the Singapore Asoociation, and maybe, its just going to get better.

3 months of preparation for the finale night paid off. Our tickets were ALL sold out. The first time ever! ALL our food was gone too. AND there were actually sporting people in the crowd actually willing to play our games. and the band was awesome! i love singing Singapore songs. hhaha. so it was so exciting. met a lot of people too!

SO yup great day for me. Never felt so happy like this in a long while.

This is a good sign. Maybe things would get better from now:)

many small mistakes add up to a LOT!!!

that applies to my anatomy paper yesterday which was supposed to be pretty easy. but because of my carelessness and unsure-ness... i made some small mistakes which i actually knew but didn't write.. arghs.. oh well... it was still the best practical paper thus far...

and today the MCQ SAQ paper. its like the "medical general knowledge exam" like seriously anything might come out one... like the first question of today's exam "What is the meaning of disAbility...?" huhhh? and there was this question of the oxygen pressure in the lungs... and i totally had no idea what they were talking about... stared at the question for a good few minutes before i started writing crap. oh well luckily that's just one question. other than that it was all right.

ok i should start studying for MMI now. that one is gonna be a killer.....

i'm back to blog again, and i just finished one paper. i realised that i just like blogging after the exams. its like a place where i get to release ALL my comments about the exams... haha.

so today's paper was the MEQ. i actually finished the paper rather fast, in like 2 hours when the exam was supposed to be 3 hours long. but anyway i managed to do the paper without much difficulty except for a few questions.. But i just realised one stupid point that i missed out for the cardiac failure question... I missed out the point that he has atrial fibrillation!!!! how could i have totally missed out that point. shucks that's a major major thing!!!!! haiz but hopefully the answer that i wrote is still applicable. and a question on vaccinations actually came out. wahhh lou. luckily i sort of read through that case. so could do lahhhh.

ok i'm done bitching about the exams. that's about all i have to say anyway.

1) i think she has severe back pain, loss of feeling in her lower limbs due to a fracture causing spinal cord injury.

2) i think she has right leg function, perianal sensation and tone due to an incomplete spinal cord injury caused by the fall.

3) i think she has pain in her hips and shoulders due to articular changes in the synovial joints, possibly osteoarthritis.

The most unexpected case came out.... SPINAL CORD INJURY...

I thought that cardiovascular, respiratory or GIT would come out BUT of all the cases neuro had to come out. luckily i brought neuroanatomy book. otherwise i really don't know what other book to use for spinal cord injury already. luckily i had my PBL notes too on back pain and spinal cord injury. sooo all the information was already in there...

so all in all, i'm happy with my performance.

and i'm really tired. so much of my brain power used to analyse the case. had to concentrate for 5 hours! yup its a really long paper.

still have 4 more papers to go!!! so wish me luck!:)

its the last day of swot vac. tomorrow is the dreaded RLE paper (Reasoning, Learning, and Explaining) firstly, the whole paper lasts 5 hours. secondly, we all have to bring our own books to study during the study time. and that means packing a suitcase full of medical books, which is so troublesome.

oh well, this year's exam timetable is not good at all. first 2 papers are on 19th and 21st. then there's a 6 day break before the next paper (which is a really good thing...) coz the the next few papers are anatomy, short answer paper and another crazy MMI paper, which are on consecutive days! so its gonna be really tiring for that few days.

anyway, best of luck to all my adelaide friends for the exams!! :)

today is a really special day.

I GOT TO SEE A CAESARIAN SECTION!
ok even if it was only for 5-10minutes, it was by far the BEST 5-10minutes of the day. i got to see the most exciting part of the whole operation. it was the part where the baby was coming out. which was definitely the most anticipated event of the day!

so the sequence of events went like this: first, i actually thought i wouldn't get a chance to catch anything as the nurses and doctors said that only one person could go in as the operating theater. so by default the partner would be the first person to go in. but after pleading with the nurses (ok not really pleading lahh, i just asked them really nicely), they allowed me to watch from the scrub room, behind the glass. so i thought i would get to watch the whole procedure. so i happily scrubbed in. then, the doctor said they would only let me come in when the baby was going to come in. yes, i was slightly disappointed that i couldn't watch the whole thing but who cares... at least i get to watch something... so i sat there and waited for the time to come when the nurse would come and call me to go in. it was prob one of the longest 15-20minutes in my life. then finally, finally the nurse called me to go in. so i went....

and then i saw the head of the baby and then suddenly within 5 seconds the doctors just pulled the baby out!!! they cut the umbilical cord and brought the baby to another table. in that moment i just felt a great sense of happiness and joy pass through me, like no other feeling ever. it was a fleeting sensation but in that moment, i just felt so happy...... woww it was just wonderful.

i just stood there looking at the baby. he was really purplish in colour... but the nurse or doctor said that the colour would slowly become lighter. but anyhow, to me, the baby looked perfect, 2 eyes, 5 fingers and toes... so small and so cute! he just looked so so lovely. so pure. so beautiful:) now i finally understand how first-time mothers feel. makes me want to have a baby someday too!! its just such an amazing feeling!:)

after that they checked the baby to see if everything was fine. at the same time, they took out the placenta from the mother. then i had to leave the room as they only allowed me for that 10minutes to watch. so there was another 30minutes of waiting... then i went to the recovery room to see the mother and baby. and i GOT TO CARRY THE BABY!!! he felt sooo delicate, and so soft... i was feeling so nervous to actually be holding a baby!! and i even took a pic! (but not on my camera! how silly can i get... i actually forgot to bring my camera!!!) oh wellz, but still it was a great great experience!!!

so here i am, in the cold computer lab (i'm sitting right under the air con), trying to blog. i'm just so sleepy and tired. just finished a 2 hour long PBL revision (usually it doesn't last for 2 hours... ). each of us did mechs for each case and went through each mechanism. it was good man. now i have a case summary mechanism for each case plus a BIG mech on the overview of the immune system, which is great for revision! we went through the whole embrology of the heart too, which is sooo confusing. the names of all the primordial structures are sooo difficult. my goodness! well, at least i have a wee-bit of understanding now.

I'M SOOOO SLEEPY AND TIREDDDDD!!!
and BORED. and i DON'T feel like studying!!!!!

ok i'm complaining. but its actually seldom that i complain so much about my blog.

so i shall make a big accouncement here:

i'm not coming back in july.
Because...

MY mum is coming over!
AND
We're going to Melbourne for skiing! (hopefully...)

so yup i guess i'll have to see all my dearest singapore friends in nov again...

I still miss you guys though...

just finished a long 3 day multicultural week. was so busy preparing food and packing and going to buy stuff. didn't really sleep much over those 3 days, slept at like 1 am each day. so felt like a zombie in school. didn't do much PBL also. sighh. time to catch up on my work liaoz. ok so

anyway finally its over, soo back to regular life again.

another thing that happened recently was MED BALL!!! it was super fun! took so many photos with the aussies and singaporeans too. photos will be up soon (once i gather photos from my sources...)

so that's all for now. going shopping nowz!!!!

love is like measles. we all have to go through it. hmm... don't think everyone goes through measles.. should use chicken pox or something. haha oh well, just a random quote from a book...

my head hurts. my stomach (or should i say abdomen) is pain. and i'm so tired now. think i should just go to sleep. which i shall do. after i type this post.

TGIW! thank God its Wednesday! which means that the next day is Thurs. which is the only day that there's no medical classes! so i can get to rest, which i need badly. i've been deprived of sleep these few days. not used to waking up early at all. (hello i used to wake up at earliest 1030am during the hols) so its gonna take a while to get back into the school groove again. oh wellz. its always like this anyway.

now i'm addicted to reflexive games. the games are just so cute and fun!! and i'm addicted to poker too! coz ever since my housemates came back from the gold coast, they brought back this texas poker set, and we've been playing it pretty often... i LIKE poker. think i have the luck for poker!! haha!

ok enough of my crapping for today! i'm BEAT...
off to have a good rest now.
